Review: Revlon Beguile with Electric Mermaid Scales

A while back I invested in a nice lighting setup.  Being two panels of fluorescent lights suspended facing either other, it gives nice, even white light that makes colours look true and my skin nice.  My problem is that  having no direct points of light, I lose all my holo-y goodness and that makes me sad.  Which is why I've had this post sitting for a few days as it makes sad.  The glitter used here is my favourite blue holo hexes and in these pictures it just looks shiny. It's the same type of glitter as this mani.

To start, I used Revlon Beguile, a blue-purple duochrome.  This one needed three coats as it's a little sheer.  On my ring finger, Sally Hansen Celeb City as I wanted to try something different for the accent nail.  Then, using my usual technique, I added the glitter.  I did a slight variation this time - using Seche Vite as the glitter base as opposed to my usual no-name top coat.  If you're going to use Seche Vite, just add a little patch at a time and work fast as it dries quickly and your glitter won't stick.

The Verdict: This one was so sparkly in person, I'm sad I couldn't convey just how awesome it was in the photos.  Take my word for it?

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night.  My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off.  I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried.  I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats.  Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner.  It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today.  Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage.  That's ok, glitter dries fast.  It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix.  The Verdict:  Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the big...

Review: Sephora X Outburst

As you can imagine, I was pretty excited when the new Sephora X polishes came out.  Not only were there a million of them, but I could go see them in person, circling the huge stand and singling out my prey.  I'm not the most happy that the good ones are FIFTEEN dollars each but what am I going to do, not buy any?? That's silly.  I have few now but my favourite so far as to be the incredibly Outburst.  LOOK AT IT:

All the ILNP Ultrachromes! Like Shiny Beetles!

Guess what guys, it's not glitter today!  Instead, I have the incredibly amazing ILNP Ultrachrome polishes to show you!  I saw a picture of these on the ILNP site and gasped out loud when I saw the colour shift.  I totally didn't sit for an hour at work, refreshing the page when the preorders went up.  That would be silly.  I was so excited when they arrived as they looked as amazing in the bottle as they did on the site.  I swatched each polish over black, took the photos, but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the finish to a place where I was satisfied.  I'm sure it's something about the way I was applying it, but there would be little bumps or inconsistencies in the finish and it was annoying.  So I didn't post them.  I gave them another shot in a taped mani and YES THIS IS BETTER LOOK:
