My 500th Post: Red-to-Purple Mermaid Nails!

Oh hi!  I'm back!  I was in Barbados for a week so that explains that temporary slackening in post rate.  More importantly, this post happens to be the 500th post I've completed on this blog.  That's over two years of glitter, taping, marbling, experimenting, successes, failures, inundations of support, picking glitter out of the the cat, my bf's beard, the carpet at work, and even off clothes after being away for a week.  It's hard to figure out what to say, really.  Thank you, mostly, for keeping reading.  I've never kept a hobby going for even a fraction this long before so yay!  I wish I had something that was executed better to show you but I have what I have.  It's almost more fitting that I don't have a big show and dance for this milestone.  I've never been good at keeping a schedule.

Before I went to Barbados, I got about halfway through a red to purple glitter placement.  It was fine but I kept getting distracted and it never got finished.  Now I have some time,  I had to finish it.  It's appropriately Valentine's Day-y too.  I went with my usual method of two coats of a base colour - in this case Bourjois Paris Purple Fiction - then went to town with my glitter, orange stick and cheap top coat.  I stuck to the usual line of glitter down the middle, then filled out each side.   The problem here is that I'm nearly totally out of Seche Vite and so my top coat is thick and lumpy.  Which makes me sad.  But it's honest.  I'll show you it anyway.

The Verdict:  The 500th post snuck up on me.  I knew it was coming but I didn't quite realise it was going to be today.  It's a blessing though because now I don't have to worry about what to do for it!  It's done!  And sparkly.  That's important.

So.  Thanks again.  Love you :D:D:D

Review: Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles is Accurately Named

It's amazing what you can find when you wander around at night.  My favourite time to go shopping is ridiculously late and I'm extra happy when it pays off.  I've been looking for Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles for a while now at that couldn't be more up my alley if it tried.  I finally managed to find it in a Shoppers last night and it really does live up to its name. A Million Sparkles is a predominately blue glitter that has an amazing ability to look like a foil after a couple of coats.  Combine that with gold, silver and pink bar glitter and you have a winner.  It's seriously so sparkly I got distracted from what I was saying at lunch today.  Application is decent but you really need four coats to get completely opaque coverage.  That's ok, glitter dries fast.  It's a little rough too but nothing Seche Vite can't fix.  The Verdict:  Yay glitter! If, like me, you like sparklies to the point where it's the big...

Review: Sephora X Outburst

As you can imagine, I was pretty excited when the new Sephora X polishes came out.  Not only were there a million of them, but I could go see them in person, circling the huge stand and singling out my prey.  I'm not the most happy that the good ones are FIFTEEN dollars each but what am I going to do, not buy any?? That's silly.  I have few now but my favourite so far as to be the incredibly Outburst.  LOOK AT IT:

All the ILNP Ultrachromes! Like Shiny Beetles!

Guess what guys, it's not glitter today!  Instead, I have the incredibly amazing ILNP Ultrachrome polishes to show you!  I saw a picture of these on the ILNP site and gasped out loud when I saw the colour shift.  I totally didn't sit for an hour at work, refreshing the page when the preorders went up.  That would be silly.  I was so excited when they arrived as they looked as amazing in the bottle as they did on the site.  I swatched each polish over black, took the photos, but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the finish to a place where I was satisfied.  I'm sure it's something about the way I was applying it, but there would be little bumps or inconsistencies in the finish and it was annoying.  So I didn't post them.  I gave them another shot in a taped mani and YES THIS IS BETTER LOOK:
